I got this email from the Indiana Professional Licensing Board:

Congratulations Michelle Morris! Your Real Estate Associate Broker (license or permit or registration) has been issued by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency.

So what does that mean? I now have a broker’s license rather than just a salesperson’s license. That means that I have more training than most agents. I have taken a 52-hour course and passed 2 tests in the course, then passed the state of Indiana licensing test. I am committed to my career and my profession.

With this license, I can (dare I say it?) RULE THE WORLD!!! Well, not really. I can manage an office though, or someday start my own real estate company. I did NOT pursue this license in order to do those things though. I just believe that continuing my education is very important. It is another way that I can serve you and provide more than other agents can.

(Bonus points to you if you can tell me what movie I quoted!)

We all know that Indianapolis is consistently ranked at the top of the most affordable cities list, but there is more good news for our suburbs as well! BusinessWeek.com, along with Sperling’s BestPlaces has come up with a list of the best suburbs, based on affordability, crime, unemployment rates, schools, commutes, shopping and entertainment choices too! Fishers, Indiana has ranked in at number 15, with a median home price of $183,450, Median household income at $83,596, unemployment rate of 2.8%, 27.4 minute commute time, and a violent crime index of 1. See the full list here.

Indianapolis Most Affordable, 9th time running November 29, 2007

For the ninth time in a row, Indianapolis has been ranked as the most affordable housing market by the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Opportunity Index (HOI), released this week. Over 87% of homes sold in the Indianapolis area were considered affordable to families earning the area’s median income.

In addition to our very affordable big city, Indiana is also home to the most affordable smaller metro area. Kokomo, Indiana tops the list with over 90% of the homes being sold within reach for the families who earn the area’s median income.

Hilbert Mansion Sale Pending (With Carpenter Realtors, Of Course!!) November 27, 2007

You may have read my report that the Hilbert Mansion had an offer on it. Apparently, that deal has not worked out, but now there is a sale pending on the $20 million mansion.

According to a recent Indiana Business Journal article, there is a new buyer for the mansion, and an agreement has been reached. Carpenter Realtors brought the buyer, and according to this article, the sale is pending.

The managing broker says that the buyer is NOT the Carmel Institute, but will not reveal who the buyer actually is. The property, located on 40 acres on West 116th street, has been on the market for over 2 years.

**UPDATE** 1/7/09…. as of today, this property is still not sold. Perhaps the offer did not get accepted as was reported by the Indiana Business Journal, or perhaps it fell apart after the offer was accepted but before closing. Either way, the Hilbert Mansion IS still currently on the market, so if you want to buy it, just give me a call and I’ll write it up for you right away!

 

Anytime Fitness coming soon to Avon November 19, 2007

This sounds like a really neat new fitness idea, so I thought I would share the info I found. I know I will be searching for a new workout plan when the new year rolls around, and many people will be joining me in the resolution to lose weight. According to the Hendricks County Flyer, Avon residents will soon have a new choice in Health Clubs.
Anytime Fitness is a health club that you can visit literally ANYTIME. Members are given a special card which allows access to the club 24/7, even when it is not staffed. You can check their website for more info, and I will update you as I learn more about this. I do not yet know exactly where the club will be or what it will offer, but I am definitely interested in finding out more about it. Maybe we can be workout partners!
